Practicalities

Things to consider:

  • Woodland/parkland/moorland and access land is not an enclosed space, we may well come into contact with people and animals (e.g. dogs), so please consider whether you are comfortable with this, we will talk through anything you feel may be challenging when we first meet.
  • Suitable footwear and clothing to match the environment and weather will be required.
  • Sessions will run whatever the weather except high winds and storms in which case a rescheduled session will be offered.

“The nitty-gritty”

Following an initial telephone conversation where I will find out a little more about your situation, we will arrange an initial assessment session. This will be outdoors, but will be more of an urban outdoor setting in or around Shrewsbury. This allows us to become acquainted with one another and you can then decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. It is also a chance for me to decide whether I can offer you the help that you need and we can also think together whether outdoor work may/may not be for you.

At the end of the first meeting, we can decide whether to proceed with further sessions. You may like to take some time to consider this and to think through what we have discussed – you are not obliged to ‘sign up’ for more sessions.

Data protection and GDPR

I am registered professionally with the Information Commissioner’s Office and hold data about you as a client in line with European General Data Protection Regulations. In working as a clinical psychologist in private practice, I hold your contact information securely (password protected). Your contact numbers are held on my mobile phone and your email address and emails on my PC. I make brief session notes on paper but are recorded anonymously, and I hold them securely in a locked filing cabinet. Three years after the end of our therapeutic work, I will delete your contact information but I will retain session records for six years after our work ends. After this time, they are shredded and the paper recycled securely. I use your data purely to contact you; to make arrangements; and to help guide me in our work. I do not share this information with a third party unless it is with your prior knowledge, or if I am obliged to by a court of law. In this unlikely event I would discuss with you first.

Session costs

My standard fee is £110 and this is for a 60 minute session. Session fees can be made by cash, cheque, or bank transfer, and are to be made at the start of the session or just before if paying by bank transfer.

Cancellations

If you are unable to attend a session, I appreciate as much notice as possible. As I hold a space open for you whether or not you attend, I reserve the right to charge for the session unless you have given me 48 hours notice of cancellation. Payment for a missed session or one that is cancelled with less than 48 hour’s notice will be expected at the following session.
